Fortin’s one-woman wallpaper company, Walls of Ivy, includes wallpapers with bunnies, foxes, plant life and pigeons. Her wallpapers are printed with acrylic screen-printing paints that are resistant to light and water damage.

She grew up in the Saguenay, always loved drawing, and had studied artisanal woodworking. She needed to do something creative with her life.

Moving to Montreal in 2000, Fortin completed a three-year program at the Centre design et impression textile de Montréal, part of Cégep de Vieux Montréal. Fortin now rents studio space there, in St. Henri, which gives her access to the centre’s equipment.

She is designing a flowery wallpaper and has plans to design a bucolic picnic scene.
